ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
THEOLOGY DEPARTMENT
In the Department of Theology (Urban) or Religious Studies (IMSU) the candidate is also awarded B.D. (Urban) and B.A in Religious Studies (IMSU) after a satisfactory completion of his.
It is a general rule that any candidate who fails to obtain a minimum pass mark in three courses in any given semester for two consecutive years, may discontinue.
1. ACADEMIC REQUIRMENTS
1.1. ADMISSION
To be admitted into the department of theology and to obtain a Bachelor of Divinity with the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, certain basic requirements must be fulfilled. According to the terms of affiliation, the candidate must have done in addition to the general requirements of admission into the seminary at least three years of philosophical studies. He could also possess the following certificates as determined by the University Matriculation Examination (UME) for the award of B.A. in religious studies by the Imo State University, Owerri.
1. University Matriculation Examination (UME), candidates must have passed at the Ordinary Level a minimum of five Credits, English Language inclusive at the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) or at the Senior Secondary School Certificate, obtained at one sitting or not more than two sittings.
2. OTHER CERTIFICATES:
a. Candidates must have a minimum of two principal level passes at the High School Certificate (HSC) or two GCE advanced Level passes in relevant subjects and at least two credit level passes at the GCE Ordinary Level or Senior Secondary School Certificate in other subjects including English Language, and three years of philosophy.
b. NCE candidate with at least merit passes in two relevant subjects and in Education, plus three years of philosophy.
c. Those with diploma and certificates including degrees obtained from Universities or institutions recognized by the Seminary Commission including three years philosophical studies.
