CULTURAL/ SPORTING ACTIVITIES
On the cultural plain, Seat of Wisdom Seminary is copiously resourceful as well. There exist in the seminary various cultural activities and groups flourishing in an atmosphere of creativity and appreciable diffusion of graceful values. Some of these groups flavour the weekly social events which offer avenues for recreations and entertainments. These cultural groups also feature at the gala nights, end of the year parties, and receptions of new members of the Wisdom family. Our seminary is replete with a mélange of cultural expressions thanks to the various diocesan cultural outfits such as: Abigbo Dance Group of Ahiara, Egwuoma Ala Owere of Owerri, Okonko Dance Group of Okigwe, Igba Ndi Eze Dance Group of Orlu, Bende War Dance of Umuahia, Ikot-Ekpene Dance Group. To be found also are such entertainment groups as the Wisdom Choir (which made her recording outing on the airwaves of Imo Broadcasting Corporation Radio and Television Owerri on Wednesday 14th December, 1988, thanks to the outstanding efforts of Rev. Fr. J.C. Iwe and Rev. Fr. M. Njoku who ensured that this dream of the music-loving pioneer Rector – Rev. Fr. Dr. T.I. Okere – was realized), the Wisdom Theatre Group, and The wisdom Band. We are grateful to God for the gifts of these various cultural and recreational groups. The Seminary also participates actively at the All Nigerian Major Seminaries Festival of Arts and Culture. Seat of Wisdom Seminary also pays much attention to the growth and development of physical fitness of her seminarians, especially in sports. Since her inception, our seminary has identified herself creditably in sporting competitions. Apart from the internal Inter-Hostel Sports Competitions, she has been a regular participant in the All Nigeria Major Seminaries Games, making her first debut in the year 1987 when the Games was hosted by Bigard Memorial Seminary, Ikot-Ekpene (now St. Joseph’s Major Seminary, Ikot-Ekpene). In 1992 between the 24th day of February and the 1st day of March, our seminary successfully hosted for the first time the 13th edition of All Nigeria Major Seminary Games Fiesta tagged “WISDOM ‘92”. All the Major Seminaries in Nigeria competed for ten games/sporting events viz; football, table tennis, lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, athletics (track events which included 100metres, 200metres, 400metres, 4 × 100metres relay, and 1,500metres). The participating contingents included the following seminaries:
- SS. Peter and Paul Bodija – Ibadan.
- Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu.
- St. Augustine’s Seminary, Jos.
- St. Joseph Major Seminary, Ikot-Ekpene.
- National Missionary Seminary, Abuja.
- Spiritan School of Philosophy, Isienu.
- Claretian Institute of Philosophy, Nekede.
- Seat of Wisdom Seminary, Owerri.
- Spiritan International School of Theology, Attakwu.
- St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Makurdi.
More fabulous was the 17th edition of this same Fiesta, hosted once more by our seminary the second time tagged: “WISDOM 2002” between February 24th and March 2nd, 2002. At this time our seminary played host to thirteen other Nigerian seminaries including apart from those named above:
- Pope John Paul Seminary, Bigard Awka Campus
- All Saints’ Major Seminary, Uhiele Ekpoma, Edo State.
- Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha.
- Dominican Institute of Philosophy and Theology, Ibadan.
At this 2nd fiesta our seminary remarkably and triumphantly lifted the Gold medal trophy in soccer. One of the most entertaining encounters was recorded in the game of soccer when at the finals the Wisdom Football team won the Gold medal in football. Four years later, at the same Games held at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Makurdi, the Wisdom Football team once more proved her mettle and retained the Gold trophy as the defending champion in soccer. Hence “Makurdi 2006” was another testimony of the sports proficiency and the competitive stamina of the Wisdom family. In all, our seminary won three Gold medals and one silver medal during the “Makurdi 2006” games competition.

ANMSFAC
The All Nigerian Major Seminaries Festival of Arts and Culture (ANMSFAC) is once more at the conner. Come February 23, Seat of Wisdom Seminary will be competing with other seminaries in various cultural events in this year's cultural festival. The events will be ranging from music (Liturgical/Cultural songs), to drama and Artistic displays. There will also be Cultural dance displays as well as some acrobatic showcasing of our cultural heritage from the various parts of Nigeria where the seminaries are located. We are particularly joyous to invite all to come and cheer the great Wisdom family to resounding victory. We welcome all our fans both life and online. Our culture is our pride, our victory is our history. Please be there, do not missout.
INTER-HOSTEL SINGING COMPETITION
In consonance with the revered history of this noble institution, the Wisdom family proudly invites all to our music fiesta, which commences on Monday the 7th day of November, 2011. It is simply going to be great listening to these golden voices echoing melodious sounds that pierce the heart. Our great Seminary has been blessed with lots of musical talents waiting to be harnesed. Our great composers have put their heads to work, same as our piano wizards. There is going to be a pannel of Judges comprising of experts from various parts of the country, and fabulous prices await the best. All lovers of music are therefore invited to our seminary life and online.
