NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CATHOLIC THEOLOGY STUDENTS, SEAT OF WISDOM SEMINARY OWERRI CHAPTER. (WISNACATHS).
From the desk of the WISNACATHS president,
Welcome to our web page.
NACATHS, which is the National Association of Catholic Theology Students in Nigeria has chapters in all the major seminaries in the Nation. It is an academic outfit that units all seminarians in the department of theology all over the nation. NACATHS SECRETARIAT is annually rotated among all the participant seminaries in the nation. Presently, the national secretariat is at the Blessed Iwene Tansi Memorial Seminary, Onitsha. And the National president is Rev. Etomike Hilary.
WISNACATHS, i.e. NACATHS in Seat of Wisdom Seminary Owerri also comprises of all the seminarians in the theology department of Seat of Wisdom Seminary Owerri. Here the association organizes academic and social programmes on behalf of its members.
This year, WISNACATHS organized a weekend. That was on the 28th of November 2009. The theme of the weekend was: PRIESTLY MINISTRY AND HEALING: MAGIC OR HEALING. It was a brain storming occasion. That pulled to our seminary erudite catholic theologians and intellectuals. For the first time, one of the true sons (an alumnus) of the seminary - Rev. Fr. Humphrey Ani - participated. Rev. Fr. Humphrey Ani who is presently the parish priest of St. Joseph's Parish Emene, Enugu, presented the key paper of the day on the topic: Priestly ministry and Healing: Magic or Healing. This was really a home coming. For the first time, we could trust and be proud of our products. In this paper, Fr. x-rayed the general idea of healing and as it pertains to the priestly ministry of the catholic priest. For him, irrespective of the many abuses in the society today with reference to the healing ministry, the fact of the priest being a healer can never be relegated.
The second paper of the day was presented by Rev. Fr. Prof. Obi Oguejiofor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The topic of the paper was: "Occult and Paranormal Phenomenon in African Societies and the Thriving of Healing Ministries Today." This explosive paper challenged all the participants to deconstruct their belief in the occult and paranormal phenomena that confront them and establish reality amidst what appears. Openness to the reality of the effects of these beliefs is for him a sure way of attaining the aim. Such a reflection would hopefully lead to a better appreciation of the effects of belief in the paranormal and the occult in the future, and encourage positive effect if these are real.
WISNACATHS also the same day held a fund raiser event to assist the Seminary in her plans for the forthcoming Silver Jubilee celebration of the Seminary. We thank God for the success he granted us that day and still calls for more contributions and assistance to meet her one million (1m) naira target. May god bless and replenish you abundantly as you do this and join the already teaming list of our supporters. WISNACATHS promises to keep you in her prayer list.
Signed:
Chukwu Michael (President WISNACATHS).
